It's never too late to invest in your health. We work alongside U3A Balsall Common, running a physio-led Pilates group designed for older adults, as well as one to one physiotherapy at the clinic.

What U3A is

The University of the Third Age is a nationwide movement supporting learning, activity and social connection for people no longer in full-time work. The Balsall Common branch is a busy local community with a wide range of groups, classes and events.

Physio-led Pilates, in two formats

Abi runs a dedicated Pilates group for U3A Balsall Common members, offered two ways so it works for different needs and abilities.

Sitting Pilates is for anyone who finds getting up and down from the floor difficult or who wants a bit more support. Every exercise is done seated in a chair, so it works regardless of mobility, balance or confidence.

Mat Pilates is a gentle floor-based class covering core strength, flexibility, posture and controlled movement. It suits people who are comfortable working at floor level.

Both are led by a physiotherapist, so every exercise is chosen with movement health and safety in mind.

Why Pilates suits healthy ageing

Pilates is one of the more effective forms of exercise for older adults. It builds core strength and stability, improves posture and balance, helps reduce the risk of falls, eases joint stiffness and supports confidence in everyday movement.

Done regularly and with good technique, which is what a physio-led class gives you, it makes a real difference to how the week feels.

One to one physiotherapy

Alongside the group sessions, Abi sees people individually at the clinic. That might be a long-standing joint problem, recovery after a fall, persistent back or hip pain, or simply wanting to move more confidently.

How to join

If you're a U3A member and would like to join the Pilates group or book an appointment, get in touch. We're always happy to have a chat first.
