Pain lying on that side at night, and the stiffness when you first get up out of the chair.
It's the night pain that gets most people through the door. Lying on that side has become impossible, so you've reorganised the bed, put a pillow between your knees and still wake up at three.
During the day it's the first few steps out of a chair, or getting out of the car after a long drive. You've started noticing which chairs are low. You've cut the walk short a few times and told yourself it was the weather.
Hip pain tends to get blamed on age, and age is rarely the whole story.

Hip pain is one of the trickier ones to pin down, mostly because the word covers several different things. Pain in the groin, the outside of the hip and the buttock all get called hip pain and they usually have different causes.
Outer hip pain is most often tendon related. Groin pain is more likely to involve the joint itself. Buttock pain frequently comes from the lower back rather than the hip at all.
Whichever it is, the hip relies heavily on the glutes to control it. When those lose capacity, which happens easily with desk work and quiet years, the joint and tendons take more than they should.
This is more than physio - its a partnership. We will be with you every step of the way and this becomes a toolkit for life to look after your body, understand what it needs and how to build lasting strength for the things you love.

First we work out what's actually going on, and why. You'll leave the first appointment with a clear understanding of the cause — not just the symptom — and we settle things down enough to start moving properly again.

Hands-on treatment where it helps, and a programme built around you — your week, your goals, what you can actually keep up. This is where strength and capacity get built back properly, and progressed as you go.

The stage that stops it coming back. You'll understand your own body and have a way of training that's practical, simple and actually enjoyable — so you stay fit and out of pain for life, doing the things you love.
Whatever brings you in, the approach is the same — find what's driving it, treat that, then work with you to build lasting strength and resilience.
