Your first session will last 1 hour. We’ll spend around 30 minutes discussing your health history, current condition, and treatment goals to ensure acupuncture is the right approach for you. If it’s suitable, you’ll then receive your first treatment during the same appointment, which usually last about 20-25 minutes.

Yes - for the majority of people, acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment. For a small number of patients, certain health conditions mean that acupuncture is clinically contraindicated. That’s why we always take time to review your health history and explore the best treatment options for you before starting acupuncture. If it isn’t the most suitable choice, we’ll recommend an alternative, evidence-based treatment that supports your recovery.
Most people tolerate acupuncture very well. Occasionally, you may experience mild side effects such as slight bruising, light-headedness, or tiredness after treatment. These are usually short-lived and resolve quickly. Serious side effects are very rare, especially when treatment is carried out by qualified AACP-trained physiotherapists using sterile, single-use needles.

It’s best to stay hydrated, avoid caffeine and listen to how your body feels. Your physiotherapist will give you personalised advice after your session.
At Resync, acupuncture is delivered by AACP-trained physiotherapists and is focused on treating musculoskeletal conditions such as pain, stiffness, sports injuries, and rehabilitation. However, many patients do report wider benefits such as improved sleep, reduced stress, better digestion, or relief from headaches. While we don’t provide acupuncture specifically for these conditions, you may well notice improvements in your overall health and wellbeing as part of your treatment journey.
